Dead Eyes

As the year ends, nature urges us to take inventory as we put the gardens to bed in the Northeast. How did we number our days and use the time so far this year? It is never too late to take inventory, check our vision of what we wanted to achieve so far, and course correct as needed. As we take stock of the weather, our neighbors, and ourselves, we might play the I Spy game to find those dead eyes. I am not talking about Halloween.

Allow me to share a personal story with you. I had dead eyes for too many of my adult years until I finally decided I was worth the change. Has anyone else seen those dead eyes on someone who is somewhere they don’t want to be, doing something they don’t want to do, and the years have fossilized this visage?

“Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light…If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have.”

Matthew 6:22-23 MSG

Have you spied those dead eyes? Are they in the mirror? Are the blinds on your window drawn, and light in and out are blocked by the shadow of grief? Have you taken your gaze from HE, who holds the universe together, as you doubt he sees your pain? Have you gotten in God’s lane? There are answers to your grief. I found mine in nature and through Coaching. Check out our Grief package and book a call to answer your questions.

Maybe your light has gone out because you are stuck somewhere you don’t want to be, doing something you don’t want to do for some reason that no longer serves you. You know the energy suckers. How long will you keep up appearances? Is this really all there is for you? Imagine the life you could create if you gave the time to reinvent yourself, drill beneath the mask, and find the vision that could ignite your passion for life. That is what Reinvention Coaching is! Taking stock and exploring the in-between of where you are now and where you want to be.

Two things that you can do today:

  1. Own the dead eyes, dead vision, dead heart. How you got to this place is not as relevant as recognizing that you don’t want to stay here yet another year. Acceptance is half the battle to stop this necrosis.
  2. Learn more about creating a vision for your health, work in the world, and relationships. Check out the Reinvention Coaching section on the website and book a free discovery call.
